February 21, 2012 - News from the Annual Delegate's Meeting

The Annual Delegate's Meeting was held on Saturday, February 4th, 2012. Following is a quick summary of the major news from the meeting.

  • Executive Officers
    The following officers were elected:
    • Chairman: Clint Leggett - 2nd Albany
    • Deputy Chair: Ted Windsor, Butler's Rangers
    • Secretary: Bernadette Weaver, Campbell's Company
    • Treasurer: Richard Casler, First Tryon County Militia

  • Annual Membership Meeting [More Info]
    The Annual Membership Meeting & Social will be held on Saturday, March 17th, 2012 at the Pine Tree Social Club in Johnstown. Since this is St. Patrick's Day, a main dish of corned Beef and Cabbage will be served.
    • Meeting guests are requested to please bring a side dish. Email Toni Lasher to let her know what you are bringing.
    • Due to the success of last year's swap meet, it will be included in the activities at this year's meeting.
    • The smooth bore shoot will also take place again this year. The cost to participate is $5.00 per participant.
    • A bartender will be present and Rural Felicity will provide music, if members' health allows
    Schedule:
    Shoot starts at 9:00am
    Meeting will start at 12:00 noon
    Dinner will start at approximately 1:00pm
  • By-Law Amendment Proposal:
    Article 5, Section 1A states: The Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Deputy Chairman must come from the opposite forces.

    Due to the difficulty in finding candidates to fulfill this requirement, it has been proposed that "opposite forces" be struck from the sentence and "different member units" be put in its place.
    This proposal will be put to a vote at the membership meeting on March 17,2012.
  • Awards: Soldier of the Year, Officer, Musician
    Nominations for annual awards are due by March 1st. To nominate someone for one of the awards, send an email to :
    • include the name of the person you are nominating,
    • a brief explanation of why you think this person deserves the award. This does not have to be an essay, but at least a few sentences.
    • Please send nominations in by March 1st.
  • Events
    The 2012 schedule was discussed and has been posted on the Schedule page.
  • Meeting Minutes
    Minutes from the meeting are available on the BVMA Yahoo Groups site.
