Herkimer Home Spring Muster and Sugaring Off - April 4-6

This event will be the 32nd annual Sugaring Off at the Herkimer Home State Historic Site in Little Falls, NY. This will be the second year that we will have a military encampment in conjunction with the event. 2007's event saw a Saturday tactical in the 100acres (+/-) of the site's woods, seminars and the public battle on Sunday afternoon as well as a lot of interaction with the public. The weather was cool at night with sunny days in the mid-40s to low 50s.

We have envisioned this event as a season starter for units, as well as an opportunity to attract new recruits for the 2008 season. Firewood, straw, water and flush bathroom facilities will be provided by the site.

Sunday's activities include: sap boiling, spile making demos, horse drawn wagon rides and maple sugar/syrup goods to sample. Re-enactors in period dress may tour the ca.1763 historic home of General Nicholas Herkimer free of charge. General Herkimer commanded the Tryon County Militia at the Battle of Oriskany in August of 1777.
