War in Schohary
May 31/June 1, 2008

Where: Lansing Manor (New York Power Authority Visitor Center), Blenheim, NY
Hosts: 2nd Regiment, Albany County Militia / Select Marksmen

The American War for Independence will return to the New York Power Authority's Lansing Manor Visitor Center, in Schoharie County, NY on May 31 and June 1, 2008.

The event will be hosted by the 2nd Regiment, Albany County Militia, and the Company of Select Marksmen. War games, and a tactical demonstration commemorating the May, 1778 Cobuskill Raid will be conducted each day.

We are trying to incorporate more civilian activities into this event. On Saturday, the Distaff of the British camp will be conducting a regimental laundry that is neither "Brit" nor "Rebel", so all men and women who want to take part are welcome!

On Sunday, we are working with the Tri-City Cricket Club out of Schenectady, NY to stage a period Cricket match between the Crown and Congressional camps.

The usual amenities will be provided, along with a period dance, Saturday evening.

Continental Line, BVMA, Northern Brigade, British Brigade and BAR member units are welcome to attend.

This site hosted events in May of 2003 and 2006. The Lansing Manor Visitor Center is located off Rt. 30 in the scenic hills of the northern Catskills. The site provides almost 400 acres of mixed cover for battle and war gaming. Information about the Blenheim-Gilboa Power Project, and Lansing Manor, can be found at http://www.nypa.gov/vc/blengil.htm.
